Fresh Fruit, Vegetables, and Other Errands
Today was the morning of errands and near misses!
It was all timed so perfectly that I made a small circle, then a loop in one area of town before coming home, which is when the thunderstorms started a short time later. Our city is set up so that homes, schools, and churches are basically located in certain areas with stores and other businesses located in one strip of town and the Town Center. It works out nicely when all the errands are located in the same area! All of the places I needed to go to today were within 5 minutes or less driving time from each other (about 10-15 minutes to get to the first location).
This is how my morning went:
Drove to CVS to pick up prescription refill for hubby. Not much happened to this point except I noticed someone left their keys on the pharmacy counter and they had to call over the intercom for her to come get them.
As we were heading for our next destination, a stupid woman (YES, I’m calling her stupid!) almost made us crash into her! Our light was green and she drove right in front of us to go down a street that was one-way in the other direction! Luckily, for all of us, I was able to stop and maneuver around her and there were no other cars around me at the time that could have slammed into me from behind when I had to stop. She quickly realized her mistake because there were cars blocking her waiting for their light to turn green so she turned around in front of them and turned behind me.
This wasn’t some small road where it’s not easy to see the other roads either. We’re talking four lanes with a fairly large median and turn lanes on the streets we came from with the street she was turning onto being three lanes! All clearly marked! She had plenty of time to realize she was making a mistake and correct it, but didn’t seem to until she got to the cars blocking her way!
Yikes!
After that incident, where my youngest son pointed out I said “Cripes All Mighty” and my oldest thinking that was weird, we headed to Goodwill. I dropped off four more boxes of stuff! I dropped off three boxes earlier in the week. I’m going to clear out that garage even if it takes me several more trips to Goodwill!
A quick trip to the dentist was next. My 8-year-old had to get a separator put in between two of his teeth to get ready to have a spacer attached on Monday. Oh joy! He did really well with the appointment. I’m hoping the whole experience won’t be too bad for him. After the spacer is done stretching everything out, then he’ll be getting braces on his top teeth only to fix a gap and underbite/overbite issues. Unfortunately, he’ll need braces again when he’s a teenager to finish straightening his teeth.
Two minutes later we were at the post office to mail off a book I sold on Half.com. The person working there was hilarious, joking around with all the customers. He asked about the boys’ schools and we found out he’s the father of one of the teachers at the elementary school.
It was finally lunch time! A little early (about 11:15 am), but we didn’t have time this morning to eat breakfast plus we missed the lunch rush! We stopped by Wendy’s and just relaxed for a bit.
The last stop was at Publix to pick up some fruit, vegetables, milk, eggs, and some good buy one, get one free deals. I’m still not doing a full grocery shopping, but as mentioned in this post, I’ll be picking up fresh items and deals too good to pass up as needed. I’m trying to eat more fruits and vegetables by having healthier foods on hand to snack on. So I picked up some Georgia peaches, a few black plums, cherries, grapes, potatoes, lettuce, and pre-cut/peeled carrots. YUM!
The cherry tomatoes are from my patio container garden.
Carrots, lettuce, cherries, and grapes! The juice is gone…my youngest finished it off after this picture was taken.
The rain started about 40 minutes after we got home right after I got the mail from the mailbox. Good timing!
