About

I am a mother of two boys, a wife, a full-time college student, and a volunteer.  Just like a lot of mothers, I have a lot of interests without a lot of time to always pay attention to them.  I tend to flip-flop around between my interests, my family, and my school work–usually within the same day!  Mom’s Many Projects lets me talk about all of these!  So don’t be surprised if Monday I’m talking about one of my boys, Wednesday it’s about something from my college textbooks, and Friday–finances and genealogy.

To give you a little background, I haven’t always been a stay at home mom and student.  Originally I worked at various jobs within a major mortgage company.  I worked there for eight years, starting in the post closing department and working my way through until I became a loan processor.  I even did some work as a security point of contact, an underwriter, accounting, quality control, and training, all within the same departments.  I finally quit in August 2004 to stay home and go back to school.

Before that I was in the U.S. Army.  My original job was as an Arabic Voice Interceptor, but for one reason or another (a very long story) I ended up switching my job and went in as a Light Wheel Mechanic.  Unfortunately, after one and half years in the U.S. Army, I had to get out due to a re-occurring knee issue (an even longer story that continues to this day).  I really enjoyed being in the Army though and wish I was able to stay in for the entire time I signed up.

I am now in my last year of my Bachelor’s degree.  It has taken me a long time to get here!  I originally began going to college in 1996, but I only had enough G.I. Bill available at the time to complete one year.  I went back in January 2006 and I’ve been going full-time ever since, including summers!  I got my Associate of Arts in Social & Behavioral Science in December 2007.  In January 2008, I transferred to the University, where I’ve really piled everything on!  I’m currently getting my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, working on double minors in Psychology and Sociology, and completing three certificates in Behavioral Forensics, Criminal Profiling, and Victim Advocacy.  I will be graduating in May 2011.

I also volunteer two days a week in the media center at the local elementary school.  I’m hoping to find a volunteering opportunity in my new career field after I graduate to gain experience and make some contacts before I plan to return to work full-time when my boys are older.  One consideration is as a Guardian ad Litem.

So that’s a LOT little about me.  I hope you enjoy my blog!

    Hi Mom’s Many Projects,

Congratulations on the success you have had on getting out of debt and on creating a website that attracts thousands of visitors each month. A lot of people struggle with debt, but it looks like you are well on the road to overcoming that challenge.

I have also had struggles with debt in the past and I recently started the site http://www.MyPersonalShopper.com to help people save money on the things they love. People can sign up for free and fill out a short survey that lets us know what sorts of things they buy regularly. We then email them 2-3 times per week when we find deals they will love.

Common deals are 50-70% off a meal from a restaurant in your zip code, clothing from your favorite retailer or other household goods. I’d like to invite you to register and if you love the service I hope you let your readers know about it.

The only contact information you need to register with is your email address and we promise to never, ever spam you.

    Thanks,
    Justin Baker

      Hi Justin,

Normally I would not approve comments that are trying to market their websites, but I took a look at it and it seemed interesting at first glance. I will need to look at it further before I consider blogging about it in the future.

Thanks for letting me know about your site.
